Broad Street Bridge

Public Meeting #3: October 2nd

The project team will share preliminary design explorations to solicit feedback from the community. This event will take place outdoors, on the Broad Street Bridge, which will be closed for the duration of the meeting to help people envision what this public space could function like in the future.

About the event

Join us on Sunday, October 2nd for a party on the Broad Street Bridge. From 1 PM - 5 PM, the Broad Street Bridge will be closed off to traffic to celebrate the New York State Canal Conference and the Aqueduct Reimagined project.

There will be a variety of family-friendly activities, live music, and food. The Aqueduct Reimagined project team will share initial design concepts and solicit feedback from the community. We can't wait to see you there!

Please note: The event is rain or shine though some activities may not occur if there is inclement weather.

Aqueduct Reimagined Community Party Schedule! – 1 PM to 5 PM

Aqueduct Reimaged Initial Design Concepts – Aqueduct Reimagined Tent – 1 PM to 5 PM

Learn more about the initial Aqueduct Reimaged Design concepts and ask questions / give feedback to members of the project team.

Roller Skating – 1 PM to 5 PM

Skate on the bridge! Bring your own skates or borrow a pair – there will be a small selection of skates available for skates. Helmets are encouraged but will not be available on-site – please bring your own!

Pumpkin Decorating – 1 PM to 5 PM *while supplies last

Stop by the Aqueduct Reimagined tent to paint a pumpkin! Available on a first come basis.

Beer & Wine Tastings - 1 PM – 5 PM *while supplies last

Stop by the tent near the library for some local beer and wine tastings. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about other City projects!

Live Art Demonstrations – 1 PM – 5 PM

See a graffiti artist in action!

Chalk Art – 1 PM – 5 PM

See a professional chalk artist in action and participate in the creation of chalk art on the bridge.

Lawn Games – 1 PM – 5 PM

Play with some jumbo-sized lawn games like Connect-4 and Jenga!

Food Trucks – 1 PM – 4 PM

Enjoy some local tastings from a variety of food trucks that will be on site.

Wooden Arch Experience – 1 PM – 5 PM

Check out a wooden arch structure that will give you an idea of what new spaces may be possible to explore as part of the Aqueduct Reimagined project!

Live Music – 2 PM to 4:30 PM

Jumbo Shrimp will take the stage at the Rundel Library’s North Terrace from 2 PM to 4:30 PM.

DJ on the West End of the Bridge – 1 PM to 5 PM

Enjoy a DJ set up on the Western portion of the bridge!

Roc the Riverway Weekend Events

While these events aren’t directly related to the community celebration on the Broad Street Bridge, there are other related activities available to enjoy and experience the City’s riverfront!

October 2nd Events:

A Walk on the Erie Canal – 1 PM to 4 PM

Head to the Broad Street Bridge for a demonstration of A Walk on the Erie Canal, the new Tour Blend mobile tour. This new, free mobile tour guides you along the original route of the Erie Canal in downtown Rochester. As you walk on the old canal, you’ll see and hear about historic photos taken more than a century ago. You can begin this tour at any time using your smartphone, and no registration is required.

Roc City Skatepark Tour & Demos – 1 PM to 5 PM

Friends of the Roc City Skatepark will be at the nearby skatepark the history of the park and provide updates on the exciting plans for future phases of this urban progressive oriented sports hot spot!

Corn Hill Landing Boat Cruises – 1 PM to 5 PM

Leaving from nearby Corn Hill Landing, board the Sam Patch for waterfront views of the recently completed West River wall project, hear about the new Corn Hill Navigation boat to operate next season out of the Landing, see dramatic views of the Roc from the water. Cruises leave approximately every hour (fee).

ROC the Riverway Guided Bike Rides – 1:30 PM to 3 PM

Meet on the Broad Street Bridge for a ride along the Genesee Riverway Trail and explore recent and future enhancements to the riverfront.

Kayaking at Corn Hill Landing – 2 PM to 4 PM

The Genesee Waterways Center will have kayaks for rent at a discounted fee of $10 per person, or free for attendees with wrist bands of the NYS Canal Conference.
